EDMOND — Nonprofit organizations from the Oklahoma City area can pick up free children’s books during a special giveaway event at Half Price Books. The books were donated by the Oklahoma City-area community and matched by Half Price Books during the company’s 15th annual Half Pint Library book drive.

Any not-for-profit organization that can use or distribute children’s books is invited to stop by and get books while supplies last. Half Price Books employees will help load the boxes of books for the groups that attend. Several groups already have signed up to get books, and all 3,500 books are expected to be given away.

At 10 a.m. Wednesday store doors will open at Half Price Books at 1159 E. Second St. Any nonprofit organization, school, teacher or volunteer is invited to attend the giveaway event to receive free children’s books. Donation forms are available at

About Half Pint Library

The Half Pint Library program is a book drive hosted each year by Half Price Books to collect and distribute children’s books to those in need. Books donated through the Half Pint Library program provide an escape from the challenges faced by children, while helping to boost literacy outside of school. In many cases, children are receiving their first book through the Half Pint Library program. The drive accepts any type of children’s book, including Spanish language books, as long as they are in good condition. Through the generous donations of the Oklahoma City community during the drive this year, which ran from Feb. 17 through March 31, 3,500 books will make it into the hands of children who need them the most. During the 15 years of the Half Pint Library program, it has provided more than 2 million books nationwide for children to share and enjoy.
