EDMOND — A motorcyclist was transported on priority status to a local hospital following an auto-motorcycle crash in west Edmond, police said.

Police spokeswoman Jenny Monroe said the crash occurred at about 11 a.m. Tuesday near the Santa Fe-Country Wood Lane intersection, where southbound lanes were closed while first responders worked the scene.

The motorcycle was lying on its side near a pickup with visible front end damage. After the ambulance left the scene, Edmond Police Department investigators were marking locations and taking measurements and photographs.

Monroe said a man on the motorcycle heading north on Santa Fe stopped to turn onto Country Wood Lane into the Trails South addition. The motorcycle and a pickup collided, Monroe said.

Monroe said the motorcyclist, who was conscience when emergency crews arrived, was wearing a helmet and suffered head and abdominal injuries and abrasions. He was transported on priority status to OU Medical Center’s Presbyterian Tower, Monroe said.

Whether or not charges will be filed depends on the outcome of the investigation, Monroe said.
