Drivers needing to cross the intersection of 33rd Street and Kelly beginning Tuesday will find several lanes under construction.
Pavement repairs will resurface every left turn lane going all directions as well as through lanes, said Ashleigh Clark, city public information officer. There will be no detours or street closure.
“They’re going to be shifting traffic,” Clark said. “One day they’re going to have the left-hand lane closed. The next one will be the right-hand lane, but you’re still going to have traffic through there.”
Traffic on isolated lanes is expected to be heavy enough at certain times to cause a bottleneck, she said. Completing the project should not take longer than two weeks depending on the weather.
The cost of the project is between $6,000 to $10,000 with funds coming from the maintainance budget of the city’s street division, Clark said.
