The city’s Covell widening project from the Fairfax Office Park to Interstate 35 is progressing, said Larry Stevens, city manager.
“The design engineer for this project is waiting to receive the final roadway plans from the engineer from the Covell and I-35 Development Group,” Stevens said at this week’s City Council meeting. “When those are received, we can proceed with the roadway drainage plans and get those completed.”
Storm sewers in the area of Covell and Sooner Roads also will be modified as part of the plan. At that time, the city will have a better understanding of the duration of the widening plan, Stevens said.
The total project cost for the Covell widening project is estimated at $11.75 million, Stevens said. This figure includes $9.8 million from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation and $1.95 million from the 2000 Capital Improvement Sales Tax.
