EDMOND —
Road construction on Coffee Creek begins Monday
Coffee Creek road construction is set to begin Monday for a 1-mile section from Coltrane to Sooner. The $350,000 rebuild project will be done in partnership between the City of Edmond and Oklahoma County District 3. The City of Edmond is paying for the materials while the county provides the labor and equipment, said Rick Buchanan, chief deputy for District 3 Commissioner Ray Vaughn.
The road will be closed about 60 to 90 days, dependent upon weather, according to a city press release. There are no formal detours set for this project; local traffic will determine the best alternate routes.
New food pantry opens in Arcadia
Project 66 is a new charitable food and clothing pantry in Arcadia. The nonprofit is across State Highway 66 from the Arcadia Round Barn. Project 66 is open on Thursdays from 10 a.m. to noon and 6-8 p.m.
Fifteen families were fed when Project 66 opened on Aug. 12, said Melody Wilson, board president.
“We are here to feed those in need by giving food and clothing in the name of Jesus Christ,” is the mission statement of Project 66. The organization is faith-based but is not directly associated with a church.
