EDMOND —
Sexual battery charges have been filed against a man wanted in an alleged incident that occurred in a UCO residence hall, Oklahoma County District Attorney David Prater said Friday.
During the evening of Sept. 23, University of Central Oklahoma campus police received a report about a sexual assault that allegedly occurred in Murdaugh Hall, university administration stated in a community alert dated Sept. 26.
Prater said the sexual battery charge has been filed, but has not appeared on the Oklahoma State Courts Network’s online database. Friday afternoon, Prater said he did not believe the person was in custody.
UCO spokeswoman Adrienne Nobles said Friday that there is a person of interest. However, administration cannot identify the person as they are waiting for the Oklahoma County DA’s office to file charges.
“Once it becomes a part of public record, we can do so,” Nobles said.
Nobles said administration notified on campus and Greek life residents.
“As always, we encourage all students to be aware of their surroundings and for our residents to ensure doors and windows are locked,” Nobles said.
UCO stated that in the incident the victim met the perpetrator inside Murdaugh Hall in a common area and later entered a residence room where the alleged assault occurred.
Based on information obtained during the investigation, campus police are seeking a person they describe as being a roughly 5-feet, 8-inches tall African-American male in his early 30s weighing about 160-180 pounds. He has light skin coloring, shaved, very short hair, a thin mustache and beard, the tattoo “Perkins” on his left forearm and other unknown tattoos. He used the first name “Marcus,” UCO officials stated.

University administration stated if members of its community had questions about safety and security campus police staff members would be pleased to assist them. The alert said updates would be provided as necessary.
