The City Council recently approved the purchase agreement for a new Police Records Management System.
Assistant City Manager Steve Commons said the current 1998 system is nearing the end of its product cycle. New World Systems Inc. record management software suite was approved for a cost of $922,768.
“The Records Management System is a necessary component/equipment for Police operations as we make plans to relocate into the Public Safety Center,” Commons said.
Adequate preparation time is needed in getting this system fully operational prior to the move into the new downtown facility. The $25.5 million PSC will be located at the City of Edmond Administration Building, 100 E. First St.
“Funds from the Police Public Safety Limited Tax Fund will be utilized to make this purchase,” Commons said. “It is anticipated that following receipt of the bid and awarding of the contract for the actual construction of the Public Safety Center and the Ancillary Facility which will occur in the spring of 2013, there will be sufficient funds available from the Public Safety Center Capital Improvements Tax based upon the cost of the contract and the tax collection history to reimburse the Police Public Safety Limited Tax Fund for their expenditure for the purchase of this records management system equipment.”
The new system will be functional in 2014 when the Ancillary Facility will go into operation, he said.
