OKLA. CITY —
A Human Trafficking Community Summit will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Crossings Community Center, 2208 W. Hefner Road in Oklahoma City. The event will feature keynote speaker Alesia Adams.
All attendees must register at www.okchumantrafficking.com to participate in this event. A box lunch is provided with a suggested $8 donation.
The event is presented by the Human Trafficking Task Force and begins with registration at 9:30 a.m. The welcome and introductions begin at 10 a.m. with an overview of the human trafficking situation in Oklahoma at 10:10 a.m.
The goals of the summit include:
• Bringing together citizens from various sectors of the community to address the root causes and long-term effects of human trafficking;
• Discussing the multiple aspects involved in human trafficking, which include awareness, prevention, intervention and after-care of survivors;
• To end the day with a strategic plan from each of the 4-7 focus groups that are formed during the summit;
• To connect service providers and organizations with individuals who can provide volunteers hours or financial resources.
