Police are looking for a suspect wanted in a high-speed pursuit that began Tuesday afternoon near the police station in downtown Edmond.
Police spokeswoman Jenny Monroe said officers attempted to stop a red Honda Accord near the station. Instead of complying, the driver dropped off a passenger at First and Littler and drove through north Edmond into Logan County reaching speeds up to 100 mph.
The driver did not stop at intersections and there were several near-misses during the pursuit, Monroe said.
At one point, officers lost track of the vehicle in Logan County, Monroe said. At about 3 p.m., officers were continuing to search for the vehicle. Monroe said the Police Department knows the name of the driver, the type of vehicle he drives and his address.
Monroe said the reason why the driver fled is not known. Logan County authorities informed the Edmond Police Department that the suspect is wanted on active warrants, Monroe said.
Monroe said the passenger is not under arrest.
Further details regarding the incident were not immediately available.
