Police make 2 drug stops

EDMOND — Improperly displaying a car tag led an Edmond Police officer to arrest a pair of motorists on complaints of allegedly possessing methamphetamine.

About 4:10 p.m. Tuesday, Officer Joe Rice stopped a blue Ford Mustang driving along Interstate 35.

A male passenger consented to a search by the officer and a pat down revealed a bulge in his front pants pocket, according to a police report. The man said it was money in his pocket, but instead, the officer said he found a clear Baggie containing a white crystal substance weighing about 7 grams that he believed was methamphetamine.

During the search, Rice stated the passenger also allegedly had a clear Baggie containing more white crystal substance weighing about 2 grams. The officer stated he also found a glass smoking pipe in the man’s front left pocket as well as $286 in cash.

The driver stated she was not aware of anything illegal in the vehicle. Officer Rice used his K-9 partner to conduct “a free air search” of the Mustang, the report stated. In the center console, the officer reported he found what he believed to be a marijuana grinder that contained about 5 grams of marijuana.

The driver’s 8-year-old son was in the vehicle, the report stated, and after both the driver and passenger were placed under arrest, the child’s grandmother was called to pick him up.

Arrested were Tiffany Jo Stout, 29, of Guthrie and Tony Manning Rodgers, 43, of Oklahoma City. Stout was arrested on complaints of possession of a controlled dangerous substance (marijuana) in the presence of a minor under the age of 12. Rodgers was arrested on complaints of possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a minor under the age of 12, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and possession of drug

paraphernalia.

On Wednesday, a separate incident led to the arrest of one adult and one juvenile on various drug complaints.

A blue Ford Explorer was stopped in the 2300 block of East Second Street for allegedly making an improper turn shortly after 11 a.m. Wednesday.

When pulled over by Officer Jim O’Neill, the driver confirmed his driver’s license was under suspension, according to the police report. The officer also stated he found a purse hanging from the driver’s neck that had a small piece of “ice,” or drugs, in it.

A 17-year-old female also was searched and a glass smoking pipe with methamphetamine residue allegedly was found in her purse, the report stated.

A set of digital scales were stuffed next to the driver’s seat, O’Neil’s report stated. A second set of scales along with a small baggie of a substance believed to be marijuana was found in the center console, the report stated.

After being arrested, the juvenile was transported to the Edmond Police Department’s Jail for booking. Jailers allegedly found two baggies containing 23 grams of a substance believed to be methamphetamine and two bags containing 19 pills believed to be Xanax hidden in the juvenile’s bra and panties.

Arrested were Jimmie Deon Kelso-Hone, 23, of Norman, and the juvenile on complaints of driving under suspension, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and trafficking in illegal drugs (methamphetamine).
