Mothers of Multiples meet for boutique night

EDMOND — The Edmond Mothers of Multiples met Thursday for its annual Boutique Night at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church.

The club was created in 1980 for mothers of multiple babies and meets once a month.

“We all have twins or triplets pretty much,” said Sara Ceresa, vice president.

She said they have a boutique night once a year.

“It’s just a fun opportunity for us to do some shopping without the multiples,” she said.

Boutique Night featured various vendors that sold a variety of products, including food, baby clothes, hair ribbons and home décor.

“I came looking for bows,” said Janelle Shellem, mother of 9-month-old girl and boy twins. “A girl needs to be girly.”

She said she attended the event to socialize with other moms who “get it” and to get out of the house.

Joy Patton, mother of 21-year-old boy twins, said even though her boys are grown she still tries to make every monthly meeting.

“It’s how I keep in touch with my friends,” she said.

Patton said she really enjoyed the Tastefully Simple booth because it’s some of her favorite food.

Ceresa said the group had a boutique night instead of the normal monthly meeting. She said they usually have speakers each month who talk about a variety of subjects, including raising children, finances and health.

“We support each other but we do give back to the community,” said Jennifer Cohen, president.

She said the club provides for families in need during the holidays.

Cohen said one thing about the club that most women don’t know about is they can join the club even if they haven’t given birth to their multiple babies yet.
