Commission sends Title 22 updates to council

James Coburn

EDMOND — A list of Title 22 agreements made by the Edmond City Council and the Edmond planning staff were approved Tuesday evening by the Edmond Planning Commission.

Title 22 involves zoning and site plans. City Councilman Charles Lamb and the Edmond Planning staff have worked together to make zoning and site plan codes in the Title 22 document more applicable to actual city government procedures. Editing changes were first submitted to the council in May. Title 22 was updated in March 2007 after a four-year review.

The City Council met in an August workshop to separate items needing further clarification and those that have been agreed upon.

Revising Title 22 has been a work in progress to correct errors of omissions, Lamb said.

“We’re reintroducing two dropped categories that luckily nobody asked for during this period of time,” Lamb said of funeral homes and child care centers. Child care centers and funeral homes would be included in the dialogue of appropriate use zonings after having been omitted.

One Title 22 change calls for fences to be no less than 6 feet in height to be site approved. Another item that had caused confusion for auditors was confusion over fee issues, Lamb said. Revisions call for a consolidated list of development fees.

The item moves to the City Council on Oct. 27.
