EDMOND — A 32-year-old Edmond woman faces potential drug charges after she attempted to obtain drugs by using a false prescription, police said.
Melissa Christine Wilcott, 32, of Edmond, attempted to pick up a forged or bogus prescription for Lortab, a narcotic, according to a police report. On Monday, the prescription had been called into the Thrifty Pharmacy, 2200 W. 15th St., by someone who represented herself as a nurse for a doctor at the Norman Regional Hospital emergency room.
Police said the doctor had not called in any prescription, and that none of their doctors ever call in any prescriptions at any pharmacies.
Police said the suspect entered the Edmond pharmacy and said she wanted to pick up a prescription for her brother. While she waited, a pharmacy employee called police.
After receiving the information from the pharmacy, police arrested Wilcott, who was transported to the city jail. She was arrested on a complaint of obtaining a controlled dangerous substance by fraud.
Not every incident leads to a charge under the law. If charges are filed, innocence or guilt is determined by a court of law.
