Events to aid police officer’s daughter

Area residents have two chances to help the 8-year-old daughter of an Edmond Police officer battling leukemia.

A blood drive will be held from 1-6 p.m. today at the LifeChurch.tv Edmond campus, 4600 E. 2nd St.

This is not a drive to get blood directly to Kennedy Stearns, the daughter of Edmond Police Officer Jason Stearns, but to collect blood products to help offset the cost of the blood product she has and will receive.

Kennedy already has received three transfusions and likely will need more, said Jason Stearns.

The Stearns family attends services at LifeChurch.tv.

On June 27, the inaugural Leukemia Lift will be held at Results Fitness and Nutrition Center, 1425 S. Santa Fe.

Brian Attebery, owner of Results, has known Jason Stearns since their childhood, and he wanted to do something to help the Stearns family with their mounting medical bills.

Members of metro police and fire departments will be lifting for Kennedy, and members of the public are encouraged to participate as well.

Come to Results to pick up an application and a copy of the rules for the Leukemia Lift or call 562-2091 for more information.
