Churches extend family boot camp challenge
The boot camp challenge is on!
One-week boot camps are being offered at Oklahoma City’s Quail Springs Church of Christ and Edmond’s Henderson Hills Baptist Church and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church this summer.
Adding one more fitness tool to improve the health of Oklahomans, the churches are serving their surrounding communities as well as their own membership.
The one-week boot camps will be offered from 6:30-7:30 a.m. daily at the following locations:
• June 22-26: Quail Springs Church of Christ (gym), 14401 N. May, Oklahoma City.
• June 29-July 3: Henderson Hills Baptist Church (gym), 1-35 and 15th Street.
• July 6-10: Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (Family Life Center), 308 N.W. 164th.
The intense boot camp will improve cardiovascular endurance, build strength and drop pounds. Participants should bring water and a mat/towel. Teens and older will be challenged by the energizing workout, and families are encouraged to make this a family fitness effort.
ACE-certified instructor teams will lead the Body & Soul boot camps. Priced at $17.50, enrollment will be limited to ensure appropriate instructor-participant ratios.
Body & Soul is “where faith and fitness meet.” It is an international nonprofit fitness organization headquartered in Germantown, Md., led by national fitness leader Jeannie Blocher. Founded in 1981, Body & Soul has traditionally offered cardio-strength classes. New programming includes boot camp, power strength, basic and beyond and strength/flexibility workouts.
Body & Soul classes are in 30 states and 15 countries. Locally, they can be found at Quail Springs Church of Christ, Quail Springs Baptist Church, Henderson Hills Baptist Church, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, St. Luke’s Methodist Church, Council Road Baptist Church, Journey Church (Norman), and University Baptist Church (Stillwater).
