Edmond Medical Center CEO Fichtl dies at 43

Edmond Medical Center CEO Tayo Fichtl, 43, died unexpectedly on Thursday.

The news of his sudden death was met with sadness by the EMC community.

“While this news is no doubt shocking to all of us, we will move forward together as a family. Tayo would want us to continue serving our patients with quality care everyday,” said Mary Drake, Chief Nursing Officer at Edmond Medical Center.

“With his character and dedication, Tayo leaves a legacy of leadership that will sustain all of us in the Edmond Medical Center family as we cope with this devastating loss,” said Steve Kreidler, chairman of the EMC Board of Trustees.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Tayo’s family during this difficult time. Our community has, indeed, been enriched during his tenure at the hospital.”

Fichtl earned his Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Administration from the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona. He was a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He also earned degrees in Psychology and Marketing from the University of Arizona.

He served in a variety of positions in healthcare organizations throughout Arizona, Colorado and Texas. In addition to his healthcare management experience, Fichtl served as a Second Lieutenant in the 2nd Battalion, 108th Field Artillery of the Arizona Army National Guard.

He is survived by his wife, Renee, and two daughters.
