OKLA. CITY —
D. Mason Art recently announced the release of its first limited edition fine art prints and “The Art of Emotion” book by Oklahoma abstract expressionist artist and former Oklahoma City Thunder basketball star Desmond Mason. The prints and book are available online at dMasonArt.com.
Mason’s original paintings and fine art prints were featured as part of the Art on Royal VIP Art Cruise, June 8-18, through Asia. The seven prints are titled: Unexpected Success, Red Cacti, Circles + Color, Walking into Infinity, Jungle Dancer, Roses in a Blue Vase and Bouquet de Lys.
“I paint by emotion so everything I create is a piece of me to some extent,” Mason said. “Releasing these prints is like my first Upper Deck NBA Basketball cards. This is a very satisfying and life-affirming moment in my art career that will make my work available to a wider audience around the world.”
Mason majored in studio art at Oklahoma State University where he became a basketball star and was selected in the first round of the 2000 NBA Draft. During his 10-year NBA career he played for Seattle, Milwaukee, the Oklahoma City Hornets and Thunder, and the Sacramento Kings. Desmond retired from basketball in 2009 to focus on his family and art career.
Founded by the artist in 2004, the annual Desmond Mason Art Show sells his art to benefit a variety of causes and charities. Mason’s event beneficiaries include Boys and Girls Club, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, White Fields home for boys, the NFL Player’s Association scholarship fund, Allied Arts, Youth Services of Oklahoma City and the Oklahoma City National Memorial.
