EDMOND — Both young Edmond girls injured while attempting to get close enough to see a large apartment fire Monday night were released from the hospital this afternoon, a police official said.
A 6-year-old first-grader at John Ross Elementary was listed in good condition Tuesday morning at Children’s Hospital at OU Medical Center after being transported there Monday night in serious condition, said Glynda Chu, Edmond Police Department spokeswoman. She was in serious condition Tuesday morning, but both girls were released before the end of the work day.
She and a 7-year-old second-grader at John Ross Elementary were struck by an SUV heading west on Covell sometime after 6 p.m. Monday. The girls were crossing Covell at the intersection with Shortgrass and ran in front of the SUV, driven by 43-year-old Elizabeth Gould of Edmond.
No citations were issued after the accident because a police officer determined there was nothing Gould could have done differently, she said.
