EDMOND — Edmond Convention and Visitors Bureau receives prestigious Red Bud Award
The Edmond Convention and Visitors Bureau was awarded the Red Bud Award for Best Overall Marketing Campaign in the state at the recent Oklahoma Governor’s Tourism Conference in Tulsa. The Edmond Convention and Visitors Bureau’s recognition in this category was for their “Edmond … the Art of Oklahoma” branding campaign. This showcased their work for the past year building the brand into every aspect of the advertising, marketing and promotion of Edmond to potential visitors.
The campaign included advertising in print, radio, television and on the Web, as well as travel and trade shows, media blitzes, sales campaigns and other marketing activities. The Red Bud Awards is an honor given by the Oklahoma Travel Industry Association and the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department. The Red Bud Awards represent the highest honor given in recognition of tourism excellence in Oklahoma.
Germans from Russia Historical Society to meet Tuesday
The Central Oklahoma Chapter of Germans from Russia Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Marianne’s Rental, 225 W. Britton Road. Elisabeth Karner of Midwest City will speak about her experiences during the Nazi siege of Leningrad and her escape with her family from the siege, which killed more than a million inhabitants of Leningrad. Samuel King Chapter of DAR to meet Thursday
The Samuel King Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church at Ninth and Rankin. Debbie Hammonds from the Native American Cultural Center will present the program. The U.S. Congress established November as Native American Heritage Recognition Month in 1990. Sponsored by the Multicultural Student Services and the Black Student Association, the pageant awards the winner a $1,600 scholarship and gift basket, the first runner up an $800 scholarship and the second runner up a $600 scholarship. -
