Edmond resident to run for Legislature

EDMOND — Randy Grau announced Thursday that he is seeking the Republican nomination to replace outgoing state Rep. Ken Miller, R-Edmond.

Miller, a professor of economics at Oklahoma Christian University, recently announced his campaign for state treasurer.

Grau is an Edmond native who grew up in District 81, the area he now hopes to represent.

“This is home,” he said. “This is where I’ve gone to school and church for most of my life, and this is where my wife and I are raising our family. We’re invested in Edmond.”

“In tough economic times like these, we need conservative, pro-business leaders who have the right priorities,” Grau said. “We can’t borrow and spend our way out of this recession. We need to cut wasteful spending and focus on legislation that will help businesses create jobs. Those will be my top priorities as Edmond’s next state representative.”

Grau noted the current budget shortfall that faces state government, saying the state needs strong fiscal conservatives in the Legislature now more than ever.

In addition to supporting fiscal responsibility, Grau said he supports pro-family policies and traditional Oklahoma values, the foundation of his upbringing in Edmond.

“My values are guided by my Christian faith,” Grau said. “I am strongly pro-life and I believe in the traditional family structure. I will support policies that promote strong families and protect unborn children.”

Grau is an attorney who serves currently as a deputy commissioner for Oklahoma County Commissioner Ray Vaughn. Grau graduated from Edmond Memorial High School in 1994 where he was valedictorian and senior class president. He attended Pepperdine University in Malibu, Calif., graduating Magna Cum Laude, and received his law degree from the University of Oklahoma, graduating in the top 10 students in his class.

Grau and his wife Dr. Renee Grau, a dermatologist, have a young son, Reagan. They attend Quail Springs Church of Christ.
