Sheriff's office reports quake

The Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office reports no injuries or damage from a 3.5-magnitude earthquake Monday morning felt by residents in east Oklahoma County.

Sheriff's office spokesman Mark Myers said that at about 11:45 a.m. the office began receiving calls about tremors in east Oklahoma County. The office received 9-1-1 calls from Nicoma Park, Harrah and Choctaw, Myers said.

Dispatchers said there have been no reported injuries or property damage in the OSCO's jurisdiction.

According to a preliminary earthquake report from the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake occurred at 11:44 a.m. Monday 2 miles east-southeast of Jones and 5 miles north of Choctaw.

An above-average number of quakes have been detected in East Oklahoma County this year. Scientists did not know the cause for the increase.
