Drugs, knives, hair found in police search
EDMOND — Drugs, knives and eight cell phones were retrieved by Edmond Police during a search of the “Bicycle Bob” suspects’ Edmond apartment, according to a document obtained by The Edmond Sun.
Connor Adam Mason, 19, of Edmond, and Nikolas David Kerr, 19, of Edmond, have been charged with first-degree murder in the Oct. 18 death of Dwite “Bicycle Bob” Morgan, 54, a homeless Edmond man.
Heather Irene Holden, 19, also known as Heather Irene Parker, has been charged with accessory after the fact of first-degree murder. Prosecutors say Holden disposed of Morgan’s severed finger, given to her by Mason.
Judge Larry Jones has scheduled a 1:30 p.m. Jan. 7 preliminary hearing conference for Mason, Kerr and Holden, who are being held in the Oklahoma County jail without bond.
Public defenders have been temporarily appointed to all three defendants. In the U.S. legal system, individuals are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Police Seize evidence
Prosecutors say on Oct. 18 Mason and Kerr acted “conjointly, willfully, unlawfully and with malice aforethought” when Morgan was stabbed numerous times with a knife and struck with a hammer, inflicting fatal wounds.
Court documents have described evidence including multiple confessions by Mason, a blood-stained glove, a knife used in the alleged attack and a watch without a band.
The Sun obtained through an open records request with the city an inventory of items obtained by police during a Dec. 11 search of an apartment at 3621 Wynn Drive. Police say Mason and Kerr lived in the apartment along with several others.
According to the document, in addition to a cell phone owned by Kerr, police retrieved several other cell phones and a number of knives, including several steak knives, a folding pocket knife and a “camo” print knife in a black sheath, a watch without a band and a clear food service type glove with reddish-colored stains.
Police also retrieved hairs, commonly used to identify suspects whose DNA may match evidence left at crime scenes, clothing items including pants and shirts, and several towels, the document states.
Police said drugs and drug paraphernalia retrieved from the apartment were 1 gram of marijuana and 11 tablets of an unknown type, a glass smoking “bong” and a blue plastic box containing a paring knife and suspected marijuana residue.
On Oct. 18, Morgan was found by passers-by lying in his sleep spot in the alley behind Farmers Grain Company, 102 W. First St. Kerr originally was arrested on an accessory after the fact of first-degree murder complaint. Prosecutors said new evidence led to Kerr being charged with first-degree murder.
Surveillance video from the Walmart at 1225 W. I-35 Frontage Road showed Kerr and Mason together as Mason waited to buy a “buck” knife in the sporting goods department, court records show.
The video shows Mason buying the knife, a flashlight and a pack of cigarettes before the pair and another man leave the store. A flashlight found at the murder scene matches the flashlight bought by Mason in Kerr’s presence, police said.
Mason told a witness that he had been planning Morgan’s murder since May, police said. Mason was booked into the county jail on Dec. 12.
Kerr was booked into the county jail on Nov. 4. He was arrested previously by Edmond Police on an animal cruelty complaint in the torture of a kitten. In a police affidavit, Kerr told a witness that he harmed the cat “’cause I’m a sociopath.” The kitten later was euthanized, according to a police report.
Holden was booked into the county jail on Dec. 12.
