Oklahoma Department of Human Resources personnel are investigating a near-drowning at a Deer Creek area home, a spokeswoman said.
Earlier in the day, Deer Creek Fire Department personnel worked a possible drowning in a pool involving a 2-year-old in the 19000 block of North Council, Edmond Police Department spokeswoman Jenny Monroe said.
The Deer Creek Fire Department deferred comment to DHS. Personnel at the scene requested medical helicopter transport, Monroe said.
DHS spokeswoman Sheree Powell said the child was a DHS placement in the home, where the family had followed all agency rules related to having a pool and a child.
Powell said the agency was investigating the incident with relevant public safety personnel, but the primary focus now was the child’s welfare and supporting the family.
Powell declined further comment.
No other details were immediately available, including the child’s current condition.
