The Oklahoma City Writers will put on a free summer workshop at the Oklahoma City University Meinders School of Business, N.W. 25th and McKinley in Oklahoma City, from 10 a.m. to noon. Visitors are welcome. Jay Shanker practiced law in Los Angeles for 25 years before moving to Oklahoma City in 2005. Shanker is the co-author of “Entertainment and Media Law Client Strategies” and contributing editor for “Entertainment Industry Contracts.” His workshop will instruct on the elements of contract law as they apply to writers and artists.

The Oklahoma City International Folkdancers will host Professor Avraham Scherman Monday evenings in August and September beginning Aug. 23. Scherman will teach Israeli folk dancing at the First Unitarian Church. Sessions begin at 7 p.m. at the church, 13th Street and Dewey in Oklahoma City. The classes are open to the public, and a $2 donation is requested.

“Harvey” by Mary Chase will play at 8 p.m. through Aug. 28 at the Pollard Theatre, 120 W. Harrison Ave. in Guthrie. Affable Elwood P. Dowd has a kind word for everyone he meets. He lives a quiet life with his social-climbing sister and her daughter, and is devoted to his loyal and trustworthy friend and constant companion, Harvey. The fact that Harvey happens to be a 6-foot tall invisible rabbit doesn't seem to bother Elwood but is an ongoing embarrassment to his family who decides to have him committed. “Love Letters” from the University of Central Oklahoma’s Broadway Tonight series will play at 7:30 p.m. at Mitchell Hall Theater. The play centers on star-crossed lovers who sit side by side at a table, reading notes and letters they sent to each other over 50 years, discussing their hopes, dreams, and disappointments.
