EDMOND — Investigators are working to determine what caused a Wednesday afternoon fire that caused considerable damage to an Edmond home.

At about 3:15 p.m., a young man playing basketball on Harrier Hawk Lane in north Edmond saw smoke coming out of a home and called 911, Battalion Chief Keith Randolph said.

When firefighters arrived, they found smoke coming out of a front window, Randolph said. After being on the scene 15 minutes crews had the fire under control, Randolph said. The fire was mainly occurring in the living room, which appeared to be heavily damaged. The attic was partially damaged.

“The cause we don’t really know about yet,” Randolph said. “We’re investigating right now.”

No one was home at the time and no firefighters were injured, Randolph said. He described the incident as a room and content fire. No damage estimate was immediately available. The home is in the Hawk's Landing addition off Kelly Avenue and just north of Danforth.
