Promote men’s cancer awareness in November

Special to The Sun

EDMOND — How would you look with a handlebar mustache? What about a Fu Manchu? Join members of the Oklahoma City Barons hockey team and Integris Men’s Health University to celebrate a new look for the month of November — grow a mustache.

For the third straight season, members of the Barons team and coaching staff will show unity and grow a mustache to raise awareness for “Movember.” The OKC Barons and Integris Men’s Health University have teamed up to create a variety of events and programs to celebrate.

The goal is to raise awareness by prompting private and public conversation around the often ignored issue of men’s health. Men and women who wear real or fake mustaches get $4 off their ticket to any game in November — available only at box office on the day of the game.

November game dates are Nov.  3, 13, 16 and 17. OKC Barons will offer a donation site for the team to raise money for men’s cancer awareness at

Integris Health will offer free men’s health lectures during the month. For more information, visit

A Best Mustache contest for the general public will be at the Nov. 17 OKC Barons game. For details on how to participate,
