EDMOND —
Alleged burglary suspects entered the victim’s home while she was sleeping and later made fraudulent credit card purchases for baby items and dog food, police said.
On Sept. 23, Edmond Police Officer Rickey Ecker spoke with the victim who said someone entered her University of Central Oklahoma-area home and took her purse while she was sleeping, according to an incident report filed by Ecker.
Police said the suspect or suspects entered through the back door, removed the purse from a table in the main area of the home, spilled some change on the floor and left through the same door.
The victim called her bank that morning and found three charges had been made on her debit card since the previous night, none of which she authorized, police said.
Police spokeswoman Jenny Monroe said the fraudulent charges began while the victim was sleeping at 1:44 a.m. and ended at 6:42 a.m.
“The charges were an ATM withdrawal of $500, a $23 purchase at a 7-Eleven, a $295 purchase at the Walmart at Memorial and Penn, and $63 in gas at Sam’s at Memorial and Penn,” Monroe said.
Items listed as missing were a leather purse, a lady’s wallet, $7 in cash, a debit card, 4-5 checks from a credit union, a checkbook and undisclosed items in a prescription bottle, the report stated.
Monroe said the two making the purchases from Walmart bought baby items and dog food. They drive a dark gray, four-door Chevy Impala or Malibu-type vehicle, Monroe said. In surveillance images, the female appears to be pregnant and the male is wearing an OSU hat, she said.

Clean-up continues for Edmond tornado victims
Mid-June is the approximate time that work is expected to be completed in Edmond for replacing nine transmission structures lost in Sunday’s tornado, said Brian Alford, OG&E spokesperson. Repairs could take longer, depending on weather conditions, he added.
Work in Edmond focuses on the Forest Oaks and Thornbrooke additions, both along Bryant Avenue. Twelve homes were damaged in the city by the storm that also dropped hail on northwest Edmond. Major damage impacted three of the homes while the other nine homes had minor damage, said Matt Stillwell, director of the city’s emergency communications and management.
Contract crews from out-of-state are helping OG&E in their restoration effort throughout central and southern Oklahoma, Alford said. -

Memorial service for tornado victims set
Gov. Mary Fallin announced that a memorial and prayer service will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church in Moore. The service will honor and remember the victims of the May 20 tornado that killed 24 people in Moore and the May 19 tornado that killed two in the Shawnee and Carney area. It is open to the public.
