EDMOND — A 25-year-old male was killed Monday evening when he apparently lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree, police said.

Jenny Monroe, spokeswoman for the Edmond Police Department, said the crash was called in at 7:35 p.m. by someone driving near the Sorghum Mill-Air Depot intersection who saw the car on the side of the road.

Monroe said the victim was traveling westbound on Sorghum Mill and approaching the intersection when the vehicle skidded off the south side of the roadway and struck a tree.

“The victim was deceased upon arrival of officers and was pinned inside the vehicle for several hours until the medical examiner could conduct an investigation,” Monroe said. “Firefighters used extraction tools to free the victim.”

Monroe said there are no known witnesses to the crash at this time.

No further details were available.
