The Midnight Streak 5K run and 1 mile fun run will be Saturday throughout the Oklahoma State Fair Park. All proceeds will be used to allow City Arts Center to continue offering free admission into the Eleanor Kirkpatrick Gallery year round and keeping the arts alive for everyone in Oklahoma City. Registration is $30. Race day registration will be from noon to 5 p.m. and from 9-10 p.m. Local bands will perform starting at 8 p.m., including Kelly B. Band, Jabee, penny hill, Dustin Prinz and Justin Witte. Jared Fogle from Subway and Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett will be there as well. The 1 mile fun run will begin at 10:30 p.m. and the 5k begins at 11 p.m.

The 7th Annual Parent Child Championship will be Aug. 15 at KickingBird Golf Club. Two-person parent-child teams will play the scramble tee shot, alternate shot approach, scramble putt tournament. Entry fee includes green fees, cart, range balls and prizes. Play will begin with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. The cost is $80 per team. Edmond Republican Women will hold their regular monthly meeting on Aug. 16 at Johnnies Char-broiler on 33rd Street in Edmond. The State of the Oklahoma Treasury will be the title of the program presented by Ken Miller, the Republican candidate for state treasurer. He lives a quiet life with his social-climbing sister and her daughter, and is devoted to his loyal and trustworthy friend and constant companion, Harvey. The fact that Harvey happens to be a 6-foot tall invisible rabbit doesn't seem to bother Elwood but is an ongoing embarrassment to his family who decides to have him committed.
