EDMOND — Republican gubernatorial candidate Mary Fallin asked undecided voters to carefully consider where each candidate stands on issues concerning Oklahoma.

The 5th District congresswoman was one of many dignitaries attending the Edmond Republican Women Headquarters grand opening Thursday morning at 3409 Broadway Extension, suite 600. Fallin will face Democrat Lt. Gov. Jari Askins in the Nov. 2 statewide election.

“Really pay attention to where the candidates stand and which one you think will initiate policies to create jobs and opportunities, balance the budget, bring fiscal responsibility back into state government, and do the type of reforms that need to be done and improve education,” Fallin said.

Republicans offer the best candidates in the state, Fallin continued. Oklahoma believes in conservative change with limited government, low taxes, high standards of education, states’ rights and supporting families, she said.

“It’s not just the candidates; it’s all of you (Republican volunteers) in this room. We can’t do it without you,” Fallin said.

A conservative governor, House and Senate will make sweeping changes that Oklahoma and the nation need to prosper, she said. Republicans are ready to make Oklahoma a place to expand and recruit new business, she said.

Former Mayor Saundra Naifeh said conservatives are ready to make a difference in their nation. Fallin said she will stand up to Washington to fight cap-and-trade, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 and illegal immigration.

“When we do those things, I think the rest of the nation is going to stand up and say, ‘Wow, look at Oklahoma.’” Fallin said.

Naifeh said the Edmond Republican Women Headquarters is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“What we do here will matter in the election,” Naifeh said.
