EDMOND —
Investigators need the public’s help in identifying a male and female linked to the theft of six cartons of cigarettes from an Edmond grocery store, police said.
Police spokeswoman Jenny Monroe said surveillance video of the incident supports the narrative in the report. During the incident a male and female entered a Walmart Neighborhood Market and left with $348 worth of cigarettes without paying for them, Monroe said.
At about 7:55 on Dec. 6, Edmond Police Officer Jeff Smith was dispatched to the Walmart Neighborhood Market at 1301 E. Second St. in reference to a larceny, according to the incident report filed by Smith.
Smith stated that he spoke to an employee who said a male and female entered the business and left without paying for six cartons of cigarettes valued at $348.78.
The male was driving what appeared to be a newer style maroon Pontiac Firebird, which pulled into the parking lot at 3:41 a.m., Smith stated. The male got out of the car, walked to the front driver’s side headlight and pulled it up; the car has a motorized raising headlight assembly, the report stated.
After fixing the headlight, the male turned the car off and entered the store with the female, Smith stated. The employee said he saw the male and female in the store while he was stocking the shelves, the report stated.
As they walked by the checkout area the male darted behind the service desk while the female continued to walk toward the exit, Smith stated. The male took the cigarettes and followed the female, who kept walking toward the exit, the report stated.
Smith stated that in surveillance video the heavyset white female appears to be 5-feet, 5-inches tall in her late 20s with short, curly brown hair, wearing eyeglasses, a blue or black coat with No. 67 on the right sleeve and a blue hoodie and a gray hood underneath and gray pants, the report stated.
The black male appears to be in his mid-to-late 30s, 6 feet tall, weighing 180 pounds with short hair under a cap; the cap appears to be dark with light writing, Smith stated. He was wearing a black leather coat, a blue shirt, black jeans and darker shoes with blue shoe laces, the report stated.
As the male left the store he tried to conceal his face from the surveillance cameras, the report stated. A copy of the video and a receipt showing the value of the merchandise were booked into evidence, Smith stated.

3 miles of Broadway restoration nears completion
Work to restore 3 miles of Broadway from Waterloo to Simpson was near completion Friday, said Mark Sharpton, District 1 county commissioner. Atlas Paving Company began the process of resurfacing the road this week.
“Another improvement on the roadway will be the application of new safety striping,” Sharpton said.
