EDMOND —
Stephen McGuffin, a local representative of The Nature Conservancy, will be the guest speaker at the Edmond Noon Exchange Club this week. McGuffin will speak about The Nature Conservancy’s activities in Oklahoma and how the Oklahoma Chapter helps to protect some of Oklahoma’s most diverse and ecologically important regions for future generations.
The Oklahoma Chapter, organized in 1986, manages 11 preserves covering more than 70,000 acres in Oklahoma and includes the Tallgrass Prairie Preserve (39,000 acres) and the JT Nickel Family Nature & Wildlife Preserve (17,000 acres).
In September of 2007 McGuffin joined The Nature Conservancy in a philanthropy role thus returning to his first field of interest — biology. He has earned master’s degrees in biology and business administration.
McGuffin will speak to the club at noon Wednesday at Interurban, 1301 E. Danforth. The Edmond Noon Exchange Club meets the second and fourth Wednesday of the month at noon at Interurban.
