EDMOND — Edmond detectives continued their investigation into the discovery of a body along Interstate 35 early Saturday morning.

In a previous report, Edmond Police Department spokeswoman Jenny Monroe said a motorist driving north on I-35 saw a body on the side of the road at mile marker 143 after 4 a.m. On Monday, Monroe said Edmond detectives were working with the state medical examiner’s office.

According to city incident logs the body was found on the shoulder at mile marker 143, which is located just south of the Covell exit. The call was received at 4:39 a.m. Four witnesses were interviewed.

“The deceased is a Hispanic male and appears to be a victim of a homicide,” Monroe said. “The nature of the wounds would indicate homicide.”

Monroe said she could not go into any further detail at this time. The ME’s office could not be reached for comment Monday.

Unanswered questions include the motive, if the homicide happened at the scene or if the body was moved and left there and identity of the victim. No suspect information was available as well.

Monroe said Edmond and Oklahoma Highway Patrol personnel worked the scene.
