EDMOND — An east Edmond home may be a total loss after firefighters battled a fire Friday afternoon, a fire official said.

At about 4:16 p.m. dispatch received a call about a structure fire on South Ridgepoint Drive in a neighborhood near the Interstate 35/Second Street intersection. Stiff winds were blowing smoke from the fire south across Second Street.

Once crews were getting the upper hand on the blaze, Fire Lt. Jeff Ryan spoke to reporters and said when the first units arrived they found the structure fully involved. No one in the home was injured and no firefighters were injured, Ryan said. It appeared the structure would be a total loss, he said.

Investigators were arriving on the scene early Friday evening and beginning their work. Cause of the fire was not known at press time. No adjacent structures were damaged, Ryan said.

Ryan praised the effort of the fire crews.
