OKLA. CITY —
The Oklahoma Christian men’s basketball team has announced the signing of Nick Tate and Willie Harper who will join the Eagles’ squad for the 2011-2012 school year.
Tate, a 6-3 guard from Charles Page High School in Sand Springs, Okla., averaged 22.3 points and 9.6 rebounds per game during his senior season. Tate was the leading 6A scorer on the east side of the state and was a First-Team All-Conference selection, Second-Team All-Metro selection, and was named to the Oklahoma All-State Team (Honorable Mention).
“Nick is exactly what we were looking for in an athletic scorer who can shoot the 3-pointer,” said head basketball coach Dan Hays. “Nick was outstanding his senior year and has a tremendous upside.”
Harper, a 6-1 guard from West Oso High School in Corpus Cristi, Texas, helped lead his team to the 3A state championship this spring while averaging 15.9 points per game. Harper also earned a Texas Association of Basketball Coaches First-Team All-State selection and was named to the All-State Tournament First-Team.
“Willie was a huge factor in leading his high school to the 3A state championship in Texas,” said Hays. “He averaged 18 points per game in playoffs, made 71 three-point baskets this year, and is just very talented as he is capable of playing all three guard positions.”
“Nick and Willie are two outstanding freshman recruits that will make a very strong recruiting class,” said Hays.
