ARDMORE —
The Oklahoma Christian men’s golf team returned to action this week claiming a team title at the Oklahoma City Spring Classic tournament on Monday and Tuesday.
The Eagles collected a first place finish in the windy conditions with a total score of 874, 17 strokes ahead of runner-up and defending NAIA national champion Oklahoma City University.
Logan Herbst and Jonny Ellis led the Eagles to the tournament title as both tied for third place overall with a final three-round score of 218. Herbst registered a 70 for his final round to come in on par while Ellis shot two under in the third round with a 68.
Additionally, Axel Ochoa and Vilhelm Bogstrand made big contributions as both tied for eighth place overall with a three-round score of 221.
The OC golf squad trailed by a few strokes heading into the third and final round, but a 282 round score for the Eagles shot them into the 17-stroke victory. The title is the Eagles’ fourth of the spring season.
In a week the Eagles will return to the fairway to compete at the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament held at the Cherokee Hills Golf Course in Tulsa, Okla.
