LUBBOCK, Texas —
The Oklahoma Christian baseball team fell to No. 2 Oklahoma City University 4-3 in the first round of games during the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament on Wednesday.
The Eagles grabbed the early lead against the Stars with a run in the first from Taylor Parcus off a single up the middle from Clint Bowker to lead 1-0 heading into the second.
A defensive struggle endured over the next three innings with neither squad able to score. In the top of the fifth, however, the Eagles furthered their lead to three with two more runs. With the bases loaded, Dustin Andrews blasted a double to right-center field to drive home Dillon Andrews and Parcus to put the Eagles up 3-0.
After holding the Stars again in the bottom of the inning, OC gave up two runs to Oklahoma City in the bottom of the sixth to bring the score to a 3-2 Eagles lead.
OC carried the one-run advantage through the seventh but allowed two more runs in the bottom of the eighth surrendering to a single run deficit at 4-3. With the Eagles unable to make up the ground in the ninth, the Stars claimed the victory.
Bowker led the Eagles at the plate with 2-for-4 hitting and one RBI while Dustin Andrews went 1-for-3 and tallied two RBIs to contribute.
Following their first tournament loss, the OC baseball team will take on the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma on Thursday at 2 p.m. in Lubbock.
