Julian G. Stetnish
1907-2009
A memorial service for Julian G. Stetnish, 102, of Noblesville, Ind., formerly of Edmond, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Edmond Trinity Christian Church. A graveside memorial service will be held in the Enid Memorial Park Cemetery at 10 a.m. Friday.
Stetnish was born June 8, 1907, in Mountain Home, Ark. He died Friday, June 26, 2009, in Noblesville, Ind.
Stetnish moved with his family to Enid in 1914 where he spent most of life. He began his working career at Eason Refining Company in Enid and traveled as a salesman between 1929 and 1941. In 1941 he went to work in parts sales for the George E. Failing Company and remained there until 1975, when he retired. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy from 1942-45.
Stetnish was a long-time member of University Place Christian Church and received the designation of Elder Emeritus before moving to Edmond in 1988. He belonged to Edmond Trinity Christian Church and was honored with the Elder Emeritus designation there as well. On Sept. 8, 2007, Stetnish was honored as one of Oklahoma’s “Centenarians” on the sidelines during a University of Oklahoma football game.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Kunkle Stetnish; his daughter, Nancy Dorene (Stetnish) Oldham; and his parents, Gustav and Rolla Stetnish.
Survivors include his sons, Eugene Stetnish of Billings and James Stetnish of Noblesville, Ind.; and nine grandchildren.
The family requests no flowers and that any memorial contributions be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.
