Allen H. Wiederstein

1919-2009

EDMOND — Funeral services for Allen H. Wiederstein, 90, of Edmond, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. at the Peaceful Cemetery in Hitchcock.

Arrangements are under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond.

Wiederstein was born Aug. 29, 1919, in Lehigh, Kan. He died Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, in Oklahoma City.

Wiederstein attended school in Hillsboro, Kan., through the eighth grade and then worked as a truck driver and carpenter in construction. He joined the Army in January of 1943, serving as a corporal in the 3rd Army under General George Patton. He worked as a truck driver and bridge builder while in Europe from July 1943 through the end of 1945. He did many jobs, served as mayor of Hitchcock and retired from Watonga schools after serving as a bus driver and handy man.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Osmus Wiederstein; his son, Harvey Lynn Wiederstein; two sisters and one brother.

Survivors include his four children: Allen Lee Wiederstein of Edmond, Timothy Arden Wiederstein of San Antonio, Texas, Debra Louise Jenkins of Stillwater and Richard Adam Wiederstein of Bartlesville; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
