EDMOND —     William Howard Smith, 73, was united with our Lord, Jesus Christ, on September 5, 2012 in Edmond, Okla.  Bill was born in Springfield, Mo. on July 13, 1939.

    He attended Southwest Missouri College and then enlisted in the Army, in which he served for 8 years. He started Mid-States Lumber Company in 1986 and was a member of the Oklahoma Lumberman’s Association and NAWLA. Bill was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors.

    Bill and and his wife Patti grew up together in Springfield, Mo., and were married there in November 1960. They were married for fifty-one years and have three children: Julie Davis and husband Mike, Jeff Smith and wife Shalene, and Jana Brennan; and seven grandchildren, Lacey, Justin, Rachael, Braden, Jake, Hannah, and Joy.  They served and worshiped at MetroChurch, in Edmond for 25 years and spent the last many years attending LifeChurch.tv, Edmond campus.

    Bill is preceded in death by his mother, Garland Downs Smith and his father, Richard Ritter Smith.

    He is survived by his wife, Patti Smith, sister, Nelle Hoenshell, brother, David Smith and their families.

    A formal visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday, September 9, 2012.

       Bill Smith’s life will be honored and celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, September 10, 2012 at LifeChurch.tv, Edmond campus, I-35 and 2nd St.  Burial and a graveside service will follow at Gracelawn Cemetery, Boulevard and Danforth.
