Dr. C. Randall Jenkins

EDMOND —     C. Randall “Randy” Jenkins, M.D., 64, of Edmond, Okla. lost his long hard-fought battle with lung disease on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He was born February 16, 1948 to Lester Carlos Jenkins and Kitty Shiplet Jenkins in Oklahoma City.

He attended U.S. Grant High School, University of Oklahoma and graduated from OU Medical School in June 1974. He was board certified in emergency medicine and practiced at St. Anthony for 20 years, acting as director of the Emergency Department for the last 11. He underwent a liver transplant in March, 1995 and was forced to quit emergency medicine. He then opened an occupational medicine clinic and practiced there until his retirement in November 2011. He was an exceptional doctor and treated his patients with kindness, respect and dignity.

Randy married Deena Adams on August 21, 1967 in Oklahoma City, and they called Edmond their home for the last 35 years. They were blessed with a son, Jeff in 1972 and a daughter, Mandy in 1978. Randy enjoyed playing in rock bands during the 60’s and was an exceptional bass player.

He was an avid OU fan and had season tickets to both football and basketball for years.  Randy was an example of what a son, husband, father, grandfather and brother should be. His honesty, integrity and loving kindness was ever present. He took care of his family and always put them first. The loss we feel is extreme but we know there is no more suffering. His brave

fight is over and that gives us comfort.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents Carlos and Kitty.

He is survived by his wife Deena of the home, his son Jeff and fiancé Amanda Biggs of Kansas City, his daughter Mandy Matheson and husband Jason of Edmond, and their son Jackson Wayne who lit up Randy’s world each time he was with him; his sister Paulette Sochor of Edmond, his cherished cousins, many nieces, nephews and special sister-in-law, Shelley Moran of Oklahoma City.

The family thanks Dr. David Boggs, Dr. Norman Imes, Bonnie Imes, R.N. and Kathy Beaucort, R.N. for their wonderful care.

The family will receive visitors from 5 - 8 p.m. Sunday September 16 at  Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper, 6600 Broadway Extension, Oklahoma City.

The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, September 17, at First Christian Church of Edmond, 2nd and Boulevard, with burial immediately following at Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Lung Association in memory of Dr. C. Randall Jenkins.
