Janice R. Saulnier

EDMOND —     Janice R. Saulnier, 89, formerly of Edmond, Okla., walked the path to heaven in the early morning hours of April 10, 2013, so she could sing with the choir of Angels. 

    Janice was born on May 14, 1923.  While working on her Bachelor of Science degree at Ohio University, Janice worked in the kitchen as a salad girl where she met the love of her life, Henry Siddall Saulnier.   The couple celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on December 18, 2012.

    Janice was very active and involved in the Tulsa Garden Club in the 1960s, climbed Long’s Peak, and enjoyed visiting with her sewing club friends through St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Edmond.  Janice participated in delivering Meals on Wheels to elderly individuals for many years.  She also loved Jazzercize and finished her last exercise routine at the age of 85.  Janice was known around Edmond for hosting estate sales, buying and selling antiques, selling Avon and singing in the choir at St. Mary’s.  She was an avid reader, an excellent cook, homemaker and truly loved her family and friends.

    Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Flo Raus, brother Richard Raus, nephew Richard Raus Jr., sister-in-law Audrey Raus, brother-in-law Theophil Saulnier and son-in-law Richard Morava.

    She is survived by her beloved husband Henry; three children, Suzanne Morava of Edmond, Scott Saulnier of Louisville, Colo., and Steven Saulnier of Dallas, Texas;  daughter-in-law Renee Saulnier of Dallas; nephews Mike Raus of Wooster, Ohio, Jehan Saulnier of Ohio, Jamie Saulnier of Connecticut, Arnold Saulnier, sister-in-law Erika Saulnier of Florida; her grandchildren:  Jeremiah Saulnier and fiancee Cody McCarty of Oklahoma City, Abraham Saulnier and wife Courtney of Edmond; Eric Saulnier of California, Laura Saulnier of Tulsa, Nicholas Saulnier of Louisville, Colo., Gabi Ennis and husband Jeff of Norman,  Isaiah Morava and fiancee Tiara Hargis of Edmond, and three great-grandchildren, Gage, Alyssa and Kendra.

    Services for Janice will be 5 p.m. Saturday April 27, 2013, at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Edmond.  Honorary Pallbearers are Scott Saulnier, Steven Saulnier, Jeremiah Saulnier, Christopher Mirkin, Eric Saulnier, Abraham Saulnier, Nicholas Saulnier and Isaiah Morava.  A reception will be held following the service in the parish hall. 

    Flowers may be sent to St. Mary’s or in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice in Janice Saulnier’s name.
