William “Bill” Lewis Bright, 79, died peacefully on April 23, 2013. He was born June 8, 1933 in Blevins, Ark. to William Arthur and Myrtle Lewis Bright.
From humble beginnings in Arkansas, Bill graduated from Oklahoma A&M in 1955 with a degree in Geology, and worked for many years in the Oklahoma oilfields as an independent consultant geologist. He was a loyal supporter of Oklahoma State University and an avid fan of OSU sports. He loved to play golf, travel and spend time with his grandchildren. He was an active member of United Methodist Church of The Servant. He was also a member of the OSU Posse Club, and the Oklahoma Geological Society.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Barbara Gail Gates.
He is survived by his wife Gail of Yukon, Okla., sons Doug and wife Christy of Norman, Tim and Kim and her daughter Amanda of Oklahoma City, and Patrick and wife AnnaLisa of Edmond; his grandchildren, Amanda, Zach, Trevor, Devin, Hunter, Abbey, Brandon and Rae-Anna. He will also be missed by his stepdaughters, Cindy Brecheen and husband Mike and Jeannie Couch and husband Dean; and step-grandchildren, Ben, Lauren, Matthew, and Daniel.
The family thanks the nursing staff at St. Anthony’s Hospital for the extraordinary care.
Services celebrating Bill’s life will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2013 at Church of the Servant under the direction of Crawford Family Funeral Service, Edmond. Burial will follow at Gracelawn Cemetery, Edmond.
