D. Raymond Berry

EDMOND —     D. Raymond (Ray) Berry, 93, was born May 21, 1920 in Henderson, Texas. He peacefully left for his eternal home on December 12, 2013.

His parents, Jack and Nora Berry had six children, Ray being the fifth child, and he survived all his siblings:  Bradie Mae Alexander, Blanche Beaber, Maurine Berry, Rayford Berry and Faydell Hill.

In July, 1946, Ray married Dorothy (Dot) Berry from Verona, Miss. They lived in Texas for two years before moving to California, where their two children, Cherie and Galen were born.  They moved to Mississippi in 1958 where they lived  for 33 years, hosting the annual convention on their property for the Christian Convention Church.  In 1991, they moved to Edmond, Okla., to be near their children.  Ray professed to serve the Lord when he was a young man and

assembled with the Christian Convention Church all his life.

Ray worked as an upholsterer for 20 years before changing careers to maintenance foreman for Consolidated Packaging Plant, in Clinton, Miss., where he retired.  As an engineer, he was very skilled with his hands, could repair most anything, and enjoyed inventing  items from the shop in his back yard.

He served in the Army from June, 1942 to Dec. 18, 1945, where he was a medical technician assigned to 20th Field Hospital unit during WW2. He saw action on two war fronts, the European Theater and the Battle of Attu, Alaska expelling the Japanese invaders.

Ray is survived by his wife Dot;  two children, Cherie Kropp and Galen Berry; two grandchildren, Kelly Kropp and his wife Cici, and Julie Krista (Kropp) Crowell and husband Dave; and four great-grandchildren, Keven, Sofia and Kyra Kropp and Megan Crowell.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, December 16, at Matthews Funeral Home, 601 S. Kelly, Edmond OK. In lieu of flowers, donations will be appreciated to: American Macular Degeneration Foundation at (macular.org) The Wounded Warrior project www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
