Roselan Carr

EDMOND —     Roselan Carr,  67, of Glenwood Springs, Colo., formerly of Edmond, Okla., passed from this life to the next on December 12, 2013 at her home.  She was born March 3, 1945 in Hinton, Okla. to Herbert and Katherine Smith, the second youngest of five sisters.

Roselan had a heart of service and patience which lead her to a career in teaching.  She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Education in 1968 from Oklahoma State University and later obtained her Master’s degree in Education in 1984 from Central State University.  On March 24 of 1967 she married her one and only, Ron Carr, who was her lover, friend and caretaker until the end.  She called him her “hero.”

Ron and Roselan moved their family from Edmond to Glenwood Springs in 1988.  As a teacher in Oklahoma, Roselan began teaching 7th grade language arts at Riverside Middle School in Newcastle from where she retired in 2005. After retirement, she volunteered at Valley View Hospital, began a knitting group and continued to care for her home and family.

Roselan’s core beliefs of living a life of joy, peace and love were realized daily.  She lived a healthy and active lifestyle, and made the daily choice to make the world a better place and enrich the lives of all who she encountered and wouldn’t hesitate a second to credit her Lord Jesus Christ as the source of her smile and daily happiness that ended up benefiting all who knew her.

A dedicated loving wife, mother and grandmother, family was her top priority and the pride. The love she had for her husband, two sons, and four grandkids was one of a kind, and the legacy of love, sacrifice and family will surely endure many generations.

She is survived by her husband Ron; her sons Jason and Darin, Jason’s wife Dorothy, their children Lauren and Landon, and Darin’s children Jadeyn and Ashtyn, all of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; throughout Oklahoma and Texas areas, Roselan is survived by all five of her sisters, Ginger Silvia, Patricia Vestal, Violet Gibson, Junie Chenoweth and Tommy Jo Birdsall as well as their husbands, kids and grandkids.

A memorial service for Roselan will be 10 a.m Friday, December 20 at Mountain View Church of Glenwood (www.mvcglenwood.org).

Donations may be made to Valley View Hospital Foundation  in Glenwood Springs (www.vvhfoundation.org).
