EDMOND —
Glenna Kathryn (Dean) Rhodes-Riess, 81, of Edmond, Okla., passed from this earth to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 17, 2012. Glenna was the eldest daughter of Mary Lee and Edgar Jackson Dean. She was born August 20, 1931.
Glenna was a graduate of Allen High School and received her bachelor’s degree in Education from Central State University. She began her teaching career at Longfellow Elementary, in the Oklahoma City school system, teaching there for several years, eventually retiring from Will Rogers Elementary after 20 years of service with the Edmond school system.
Glenna loved teaching children, traveling, visiting relatives, and dearly loved her four children and six grandchildren. She was a longtime member of the order of P.E.O. Sisterhood, Chapter K, Oklahoma Educators Association, Rainbow for Girls, and The Eastern Star of Oklahoma.
She is survived by her husband, William Riess; children: John and his wife Deborah Rhodes of Sherman, Texas, Terry and his wife Julie Rhodes of Austin, Texas, Chris and his wife Kirsten Rhodes of Redwood City, Calif. and Kathy Rhodes of Edmond; grandchildren: Aimee Rhodes-Gutierrez, Hayden Rhodes, Brennan Rhodes, Alexandra Rhodes, Jesse Rhodes, Jackson Rhodes and Madeline Rodriquez; sisters, Bobbie Milner of Allen, Okla. and Shirley Wilcox and her husband Terry Wilcox of Rancho Mirage, Calif.; and many other family members and friends.
A viewing will be 1-8 p.m. Sunday, October 21, 2012 at Baggerley Funeral Home in Edmond, and 6-10 p.m. Monday, October 22, 2012 at Criswell Funeral Home in Allen, Okla.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Monday, October 22, 2012, at Edmond’s First Baptist Church and Tuesday, October 23, 2012, at the First Baptist Church in Allen, Okla. Interment will follow immediately after the Allen funeral services at Allen Cemetery.
