Alvin L. Ihrig


EDMOND —     Alvin L. Ihrig, 83, of Oklahoma City, Okla., passed from this life on November 16, 2013. He was born in Mannford, Okla., on April 29, 1930 to Bill and Daisy Ihrig.

    Alvin began working at Stevens Asbestos in Tulsa and later worked for Industrial Gaskets for 25 years. He retired as a heavy equipment mechanic while employed with the Oklahoma County Highway Department.

    He married the love of his life, Dorothy Eason in Mt Vernon, Texas on Oct, 1, 1960.

    Alvin is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Ihrig; his parents; two brothers, Clyde Ihrig and George Ihrig and two sisters, Irma Scates and Edna Massey.     

    Alvin is survived by his two sons, Derral Estes of Oklahoma City and Alvin Ihrig and his wife Carol of Wellston; his daughter Susan Covalt of Oklahoma City; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Margie Haney of Oklahoma City, Zelma Jared of Phoenix, Ariz., and Alletta James of Charleston, Ark., as well as a host of other family and friends.

    Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, November 21, at the Wellston Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Dennis Osburn officiating. Burial will follow at the Wellston Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Brown’s Funeral Parlor in Luther, Okla.
