Maudie Maxine Cornforth

EDMOND —     Maudie Maxine Cornforth, 90, of Guthrie, Okla., was born March 3, 1923 in Edmond Okla., to Clarence and Gertrude Bosserman. She entered Heaven on June 27, 2013.

Maxine, as she was known to her many friends and family, attended school in Edmond and business college in Oklahoma City, Okla. On October 16, 1942, Maxine married the love of her life, Merle, and they began their life together. Side by side they farmed and raised a son, Gary, who was the apple of his mother’s eye. Maxine filled her days with caring for her family and mastering the art of pie making that will be so desperately missed by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was devoted to her husband and after 70 years of marriage, they still enjoyed laughing together and many kisses.

Maxine was a member of Seward Road Baptist Church where, until she became unable, she was active in the Senior Adult Ministry.

Maxine is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Winnie Whitaker.

She is survived by her husband, Merle, of the home; son Gary and wife Patricia of Guthrie; grandson Aaron and wife Christine of Augusta, Ga.; granddaughter Janice Akright and husband Johnathan of Edmond; granddaughter Faith Carney and husband Wilson of Mustang, Okla.; granddaughter Denise Bookout of Oklahoma City, and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 1, 2013 at Seward Road Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Seward Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.

At the family’s request, there will be no visitation.
