EDMOND —
Leonard South, 97, of Minco, Okla. was born January 7, 1915 in Ada, Okla. to Thomas Oscar and Martha L. (Smith) South. He died Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the Gran Grans Nursing Center in Yukon, Okla.
Leonard attended Ada Public School and served in the United States Army during World War II. He worked as a self-employed truck driver. He married Monafae Lee Howery on October 12, 1938 in Purcell, Okla.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Monafae on January 8, 2003; granddaughter Brandilyn Ina South; brothers Arnold and Goldie South, Winford and Dollie South; and two sisters, Lora and Arthur Danley and Fay and Oscar Bosler.
Leonard is survived by his son Phillip South Sr. and wife Barbara of Edmond, Okla.; two daughters, Joyce Locke and husband Neal of Minco and Judy Armstrong and husband Ronnie of Oklahoma City; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and one on the way.
Graveside services with military honors will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Evergreen Cemetery in Minco, Okla. under the direction of Huber-Reynolds Funeral Home of Minco.
