EDMOND —
Robert E. Cassell went to be with his Heavenly Father on January 24, 2013, with his loving family by his side. Edsel was born on March 4, 1928, to Charlie and Lillie Cassell.
He graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1946, and joined the Navy where he served in Guam. He married the love of his life, Loretta on May 24, 1951.
After graduating from East Central University, he made his mark as a draftsman at Conoco, retiring after 31 years of service. Edsel dedicated himself to the Lord, and his wife, children, and grandchildren. His keen sense of humor, humble wit, and heart of pure gold have branded those he left behind.
His parents and a sister, Christine preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife Loretta of Edmond; son Neal (Linda) of American Falls, ID; daughter Cindy Eichenberg (Bob), and son Keith (Amy) both of Edmond. Eight grandchildren, Chris (Amy), Lindsey Roberts (Rich), Ashley, Hillary Sadler (Clif), Hannah Walbergh (Zak), Parker and Brady, and four great grandchildren. His brother Donald, and sisters Lenora, and Joy also survive him. Edsel was loved dearly, and will be missed deeply.
There will be a viewing held at Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond on Sunday from 2 pm to 5 pm and a memorial service held at Quail Springs Baptist Church on Tuesday, January 29 at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made for cancer research at the Stephenson Cancer Center, PO Box 26901, 6th Floor, Oklahoma City, OK 73126-090.
